Brian is a graduate of Michigan Technological University in Applied Geophysics and has worked in the oil field service industry for the past 41 years, having spent 25 years with Schlumberger in various engineering and management positions. Brian joined Welltec® in 2002 as General Manager in Houston, Texas, where in six years, the US business grew from a single start-up location into 8 operating bases with over 80 employees. After two years as VP of Global Sales and Marketing at the company headquarters in Denmark, he took the position of Welltec’s VP of Latin America in Rio de Janeiro, followed by Senior VP of Middle East and North Africa and is now semi-retired, as the first Welltec Fellow, where he focuses on technical advising and industry associations. Brian has 37 continuous years as an SPE member and has 28 published SPE papers and trade journal articles. He spent 13 years on the international board of ICoTA (Intervention and Coiled Tubing Association), serving two years as both chairman and treasurer. He was a SPE Distinguished Lecturer for 2012 – 2013, has presented 3 SPE Short Courses, currently serves on two API committees, and on the SPE Energy Information Committee for public education. In 2016 Brian was awarded the SPE Production Operations Distinguished Service Award at the ATCE in Abu Dhabi.
